This walking safari in Botswana offers a completely different dimension to experiencing the wilderness. Suited to fit, spirited adventurers able to walk 10 to 15km per day, walking through the bush allows for a very quiet approach to game and birds, as well as being able to stop for the smallest of plants or creatures that may be missed when travelling in vehicles. There is no set itinerary as such, it will depend on weather conditions, water levels and wildlife movements. At all times your guide will keep your safety in mind, first and foremost. This trip encompasses three exceptional wildlife areas of Botswana - making up one unique, mind-blowing adventure!

Day 4 - Okavango Delta

You will be met at Maun Airport for your transfer to the Buffalo fence on the edge of the camping concession area, a drive of approximately 30 minutes. Thereafter we leave the vehicles behind and you can either walk to camp or board a traditional dugout mokoro canoe and wind your way through the tranquil waterways of the Okavango Delta, following hippo and elephant channels.

Once settled in, enjoy a stroll to take in the splendour of your camp environment with a sundowner. (The mobile camp will move depending on each day's itinerary.) A delicious dinner is served under the African sky. Be lulled to sleep by the sounds of the bush – elephants feeding close to your tent and even perhaps, lions calling.

Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Ride Botswana - Walking Safaris in the Delta

Day 5 - Okavango Delta

Following an early breakfast, head out on your morning walk. If fortunate you may encounter elephants swimming in deep water channels, see herds of red lechwe antelope skipping through shallow waters and amazing birdlife will be present just about everywhere. In the heat of the day you can seek out a safe, clear, natural pool for a swim and return to camp for a tasty lunch.

Traditionally African siesta time follows during the heat of the afternoon to recharge for your early evening walk. The colour of the light changing into a classic Delta sunset will take your breath away. An alternative to the evening walk is to take a leisurely mokoro sunset cruise. Feast on another delightful bush dinner before retiring.

Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Ride Botswana - Walking Safaris in the Delta

Day 6 - Okavango Delta

Free to choose any direction for the day, your Professional Walking Guide will plan your day’s route with you to search for game, birds or even simply immerse yourself in the incredible solitude found here. Secretive predators are a favourite to search for or simply set out for the nearby hippo pools to be entertained by their antics and unusual calls.

Day 7 - Okavango Delta

A final breakfast at sunrise is followed by farewells. Your luggage will be loaded onto mokoros for transfer to the Buffalo fence and again you have the option to either transfer this route by mokoro or on foot. Your safari vehicle will then take you back to Maun Airport for your onward flight to Kwando Splash Camp, deep in the heart of the Okavango Delta alongside the Moremi Game Reserve.

Both day and night game drives and bush walks are conducted by experienced guides and trackers. Game viewing in the area is considered phenomenal and it is a true birders’ paradise. Also on offer are boat cruises, mokoro excursions and fishing (seasonal & depending on water levels)

Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 9 - Selinda Reserve

After breakfast transfer to the airstrip for your flight to the Linyanti - a safari addict’s bush nirvana. One of the most remote and exclusive pockets of Botswana, this pristine wilderness is what great game viewing and wildlife documentaries are made of. It is not just for ticking off the big game; it also has a knack for delivering lesser-spotted bucket list items, whether it’s a rare bush pig or that long-searched-for wild dog. Together with the Chobe Riverfront, it homes the highest density of African elephants in the world.

Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Selinda Explorers Camp

Day 10 - Selinda Reserve

Selinda Explorers Camp is in a remote, treasured location on the famous Selinda Spillway - a crucial gathering point for wildlife. The camp focuses primarily on the traditional safaris of walking and canoeing. In addition, day game drives and night game drives are available to explore this wildlife hotspot, with huge herds of elephants and buffalo, lion, wild dog, sable and roan antelope all frequently spotted.
